What would it be like to wake up everyday to see another person, who looks like you, killed for having your skin complexion? I would be enraged and lachrymose. Why? I am an African American male. I didn't ask to be Black, and I certainly didn't ask to come into this world, but I am proud to be a Black man. God purposely brought me into this world to fulfill a specific purpose and, while I am not entirely sure what the scope of my purpose entails, I do know that I was created to write words that will change the course of my life and others whom I have not encountered yet.
Stop F*cking Killing Us is meant to spark change in the stone hearts of those who remain in a suspended state of racialization en masse. At the same time, however, I find it very important to note that my writing is also for the purpose of remembering the Black lives who have transitioned from this cruel world. More than 164 lives were taken in 2020, alone, including George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Daunte Wright. This is not to say that other lives are not at stake. What I am saying, though, is that we are on the receiving end of racial injustice more than any other minority group. To the oppressor, it does not matter who we are on the inside.
