The present publication in CICIL series, which enlists in descriptor-wise sequence the national information resources in Communication, Informatics and Librarianship, of 44 important Delhi libraries, is intended to serve three purposes among others. Firstly, it will help the practising Librarians and working Information Scientists to update their knowledge and skill, to broaden their horizons and to meet the challenges of the changing times. Secondly, it is a handy tool for the Teaching Faculty who will find it (with listing of rare and out-of-print editions) of immense value in their teaching work. Thirdly, this publication is particularly valuable for Researchers and Scholars who will not only find in it listing of most of their required material in their area of study, but will also be able to locate the place where the material is available. Additionally, to Acquisition Librarian it will help indicate the gaps and to Reference Librarian a pointer for referral service. Last, but not the least, this may motivate other professionals to repeat the exercise in other metropolitan cities.

About the Author

S.P. AGRAWAL (b. 1929) was Director, National Social Science Documentation Centre, ICSSR, and Member Secretary, Indian Association of Social Science Institutions. He was also the Vice-Chairman of the Asia and Pacific Information Network in Social Sciences (APINESS). In 1988, he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Education (honoris causa) by International University Foundation. Presently, he is Member, Round Table on Research in Reading, IFLA, and Member, International Committee for Social Science Information and Documentation. He is also Member of Board of Archival Studies, National Archives of India, and Member, Hindi Advisory Committee, Ministry of Coal, Government of India. He has written extensively on various aspects of education, Indian polity, and library and information science.

PUSHPA RANI SHARMA (b. 1960) holds Master’s Degree in Sociology and in Hindi literature, as also a degree in Library and Information Science from University of Delhi. She has been associated with Indian Council of Social Science Research Projects of Retrospective Indexing of Indian Social Science Periodicals, Union Catalogue of Reference Books, Bibliographies, Social Science Periodicals and Serials, etc. Her forthcoming publication in collaboration with S.P. Agrawal is Government of India Publications. She is presently working in National Social Science Documentation Centre of ICSSR, New Delhi.
