About the Author

John Bielinski, Jr. holds a master of science in emergency and family medicine and actively works as a PA in Western New York.

Growing up, John struggled in school, was labeled a “difficult learner,” and was put in classes for students with special needs. He felt inadequate and stupid based on his inability to thrive using traditional learning methods.

After high school, feeling unprepared for college, John joined the United States Marine Corps and was soon deployed to Operation Desert Storm. John’s job was to quickly and accurately recognize armored vehicles in order to identify the enemy. Any mistake could mean the loss of American lives. John had to learn quickly and effectively. The military provided John with a unique learning tool—flashcards. One side of each card had a picture of the vehicle; the other side listed identifying features. John found himself learning quickly, and he remembered what he’d learned. This strategy would serve as the basis for John’s future teaching methods, designed to reach students of diverse learning styles.

After returning from duty, John completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Buffalo, went to PA school at King’s College, and moved into clinical practice. He also developed a passion for teaching, serving as an instructor for ten years at two different PA schools in Buffalo, New York. Throughout his education and career, John developed and refined consistent, high-caliber, reproducible systems not only for teaching and learning, but also for assessing and treating patients.

John founded CME4LIFE, a continuing medical education company, after growing frustrated by conferences and learning tools that failed to engage learners. His unique approach—“Active Engagement Learning”—weaves together storytelling, song and dance, memorable mnemonics, audience participation, and an emphasis on critical thinking, making CME4LIFE’s products more engaging and effective than anything else out there.

John feels strongly that God has given him the gift of teaching to share with passionate medical providers.
