About the Author

ABOUT THE AUTHOR - TRACY YATES

Tracy Yates, a veteran high school teacher, mentor and researcher, is the go-to person for thousands of students that have confided in her over the last 14 years. She's on the front lines of the daily battle to tame the chaos, talking to teens on their turf in their language. She's the big guns teens call on because she acknowledges that they know what's up in the world, that they can handle their own business and she never freaks out. Often times, these girls already know the answers to the most difficult questions, they just need the encouragement to act on their instincts. That's what they receive from Tracy Yates.

With the spirit of a 17 year old teen and the wisdom of a woman who has made plenty of mistakes, Tracy Yates, with 14 years of high school teaching experience, has spent the last 10 teaching nearly all girls. Her entire career encompasses talking to high school students about life in high school.

A former teenager herself, Yates weathered an awkward high school experience replete with stupid mistakes, hilarious stories and plenty of heartbreak. In addition, she has collaborated with students of all races and socio-economic classes in subjects like: English, English as a Second Language, Acting, Dance, Dance Production and Choreography, Creative Writing, Kickboxing, Video/Film, and Health classes.

Additionally, she

was awarded the prestigious Univ. of California Presidential Grant to further her research in the effectiveness of homework (it isn't in most cases)

serves as a mentor to struggling students and was a part of the founding administrative leadership the school at which she currently teaches.

is a mentor in the Mentor Program at her current school.

Her educational background includes degrees in University of California at San Diego,
Dartmouth College, California State University, San Marcos, National University, American Academy of Dramatic Arts
