Photos in Swimming in the Wild depict swimmers and divers enjoying close encounters with dolphins, whales, rays, and even sharks, though the text notes that it may be safer to enjoy these animals from a distance. Diving addresses the sport's dangers; it covers cliff diving and platform diving into shallow pools and mentions Olympic champion Greg Louganis's injury at the 1988 Summer Olympics.
