About the Author

The author has spent many years interacting directly with Native cultures, providing family programs for the Cherokee in Oklahoma to consulting on native healing practices in New Mexico with the Apache. As a therapist and educator, he understands the healing nature of a well-told story. Earning a bachelor, two master’s degrees, and a PhD, he is both an educator and healer. He grew up on the border of Missouri near Cahokia, one of the largest native settlements in America. His family origins of Celtic Welsh valued story telling. His association with the Cherokee began when he lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and followed his career as they lived and worked in New Mexico. He has authored several novels, professional publications, and textbook contributions, as well as poems and stories.
