About the Author

Mary C. McMackin is a professor in the Language and Literacy Division of the School of Education at Lesley University, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Mary began her career as an elementary school teacher and now teaches graduate literacy courses to preservice and in-service teachers and presents at literacy conferences around the country. Mary has written several resources, including a three-book series with colleague Nancy L. Witherell on teaching reading, writing, and vocabulary through differentiated instruction with leveled graphic organizers.
