Farmer explores all aspects of establishing these relationships and provides theoretical foundations plus hands-on guidance to work effectively with groups. The substance of the information is based on research, case studies, standards of AASL and AECT, and experience in the field. The "Close Up" section in the second chapter includes teaching and learning activities; the research processes; and information access, delivery, and program administration. One chapter is devoted to collaboration with teachers; teaming with other librarians, professional organizations, administrators, families, community agencies, businesses, and institutes of higher learning is also addressed. Although some of the material is found in other sources, and the text is dense, this is an important book because it draws together the many facets of collaboration and provides practical ideas for working with the diversity of groups. This book will also serve librarians as they develop proposals for the new federal legislation funding libraries, which emphasizes the importance of collaborating with all the groups identified by the author.
