Overview

Terraka: The Secret of Darkstone is a sci-fi adventure story about three siblings who run away from home before a hurricane is scheduled to hit town. When they run into some complications, they are forced to flee from their only sanctuary. Against all odds, the kids make it home just as lightning strikes powerful technology, causing an energetic surge that creates portholes into another dimension. The children are separated during transport. They soon will be faced with a variety of challenges and adventures as they try to survive in an uncharted world with unknown languages and cultures. While one child finds refuge in one society, the others are rescued by the opposing empire. The children uncover the truth behind the state's mission, as well as the casualties at risk if they do nothing. Now, they must choose whether to set their own personal objectives aside in order to protect life; and if so, will they be found on the opposite side of the cause?

About the Author

Sandie RH Hart is a certified teacher from Aubrey, Texas. She started telling stories to her siblings when she was seven and was writing them down at eight. Hart began writing poetry at nine to express her inner thoughts, emotions, and outlooks on life. She quit school soon after graduating from the 7th grade. After a lifetime of hard knocks and minimum-wage jobs, she returned to school at 38, taking remedial classes and working her way to a bachelor's degree. Hart received an associate degree with honors at Lamar State College and then, later, a bachelor's degree in communication at Lamar University. She graduated with minors in advertising, business administration, and English. She completed the post-bachelor program to become a Texas state-certified teacher in numerous subjects and grade levels. Hart is a published poet and received writing awards from Lamar State College for descriptive and narrative essays. Her childhood dream was to become a successful author, but due to her impoverished life, she could not pursue her dream until her later years. Today, Hart works with special education teachers to accommodate those with individualized needs. She loves working with young minds and aiding educational development. As a result of her life experiences, she is dedicated to helping young people realize their talents, skills, and contributions early in life and uses her love for storytelling to convey that message.
