The blood circulation, innervation, endocrinology and environmental factors affecting the milk production have also been included. The book deals with the characteristics of good dairy animals and clean milk production practices besides mastitis and persistency of lactation. The book also deals with the physiology of transition animals, milk synthesis, nutrient budgeting during lactation and the advancement made in milk secretion during last two decades. The book will not only satisfy the needs of students of UG and PG programme and animal enthusiasts of our country but also go a long way to help dairy farmers to update their knowledge in increasing the milk production.

About the Author

Dr. Mahendra Singh has been actively engaged in the research and teaching programme in Animal Physiology Division of the National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal since 1984. Dr. Singh main are of research has been lactation physiology and milk production management. Dr. Singh has been decorated with many prestigious awards for research excellence like Dr. D. Sunderesan Award, Dr. S.N. Mullick Award, Dr. P.K. Dwarka Nath Award. He has published more than 130 research publications in high rated International and national journals of repute, authored many books and acquired advance training in Dairy Scicne Department, University of Florida, USA. He has been on expert panel of many scientific committees, General Secretary of the Alumni association and of Society of Animal Physiologist of India. Dr. Singh has been the officer Incharge of Cattle Yard Section and is presently working as Head- Division of Animal Physiology at ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal.

Dr A. K. Roy has been teaching the graduate and postgraduate students at National Dairy Research Institute Karnal for the last 6 years. He has been working as ARS scientist since 1985. He has also served as Professor (Veterinary Physiology) at Gondar University Ethiopia. He has published many research and popular articles in the reputed journals.
