Overview

Over the course of a nearly thirty-seven year career in speech and language pathology, I have noted differences in my preschool-aged clientele, many of which I attribute to changes in educational practices, parenting and over-exposure to technology at early ages. A return to sound, developmentally appropriate educational practices, sane parenting with consistent discipline, and active, hands-on play (as opposed to video games and computers) is called for.

About the Author

Martha Lindsey Hanson is a Speech-Language Pathologist, currently in her thirty-second year of practice. Over those many years, she has worked in various settings, both medical and educational, with all age groups. For the past twenty years, she has specialized in treating the pediatric population in public and private schools, centers for developmentally disabled children, home-based health-care, out-patient rehabilitation centers, and pediatric physicians’ offices. She currently works exclusively in a pediatrician’s office in Naples, Florida.
