Overview

Band aids cure all, at least that’s how kids view them. After a five-year-old girl discovers her daddy crying alone in his room, she searches for a band aid to help him stop crying. A kind neighbor gives her a band aid and she rushes home to give it to her daddy. Touched, he sits her down and explains that there are some wounds that band aids cannot reach, but tells her of a different cure. She understands that this alternative cure requires spending time with her daddy and giving him hugs, so that she can be his band aid.

We've all experienced those moments of brokenheartedness in life. As a father with a school-aged daughter, I can identify with the true compassion children feel when they know a loved one is hurting. The Band Aid weaves that compassion into a simple story which can be shared with children, your own or others', giving you a few special moments to share with them. I'd highly recommend.

Reading this from my "Grandmother" point of view, this adorable little book just warmed my heart. The little girls desire to help her daddy's hurt and the lengths she goes to do it just made me think of the possibilities as you read this to your child, or as your child reads it. Questions that it both answers and raises offer conversations that you could have with your child. I highly recommend that you buy this book to have on hand to read to your children or grandchildren, or as a gift!
