About the Author

Donald "Don" De Angelo was born in Pennsylvania and raised in rural western New York state. Don graduated with a BA in International Relations from the University of Delaware in 1987, and immediately began teaching high school social sciences in Stamford, CT. After two years De Angelo began working in corporate America at The Chase Manhattan Bank (now JP Morgan Chase). His business career began as a customer service representative for credit cards in Wilmington, DE and then as a training assistant on Park Avenue in New York City. He was a benefits counselor at the company's international headquarters in the Wall Street district before moving to work in mortgages in La Jolla, CA, where he moved in 1992. It was during this last stint that Don earned his first MA in International Relations from the University of San Diego in 1995.
In 1996 Don returned to teaching, taking a position as an AP US History teacher with the University of San Diego High School (now Cathedral Catholic), in San Diego. For ten years Don was the head coach of the school's boys and girls swimming and diving teams. In 2007, Don was named a Senior Fellow of the James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation. This came with a second MA in History from San Diego State University and included a summer institute at Georgetown University studying the historical foundations of the US Constitution. In 2010, De Angelo was named a "Legend of Coaching" by the San Diego County High School Sports Hall of Fame.
Donald F. De Angelo has been an educator, coach, and recently an adjunct professor of US History at community colleges in San Diego. He was also the Vice-Chair of the San Diego County Libertarian Party for four years. In 2021, Don started his own company, Liberty Education Academy, LLC, which he hopes will provide quality teachers for homeschooling parents. He lives, works, and writes in San Diego, CA
