Overview

Sixteen years after their European adventure, ex-fashion models Star, Joanne and Casey reunite over lunch and realize they have a lot to talk about.

On Star's wedding day, her soon-to-be, mother-in-law drops a bomb that threatens her marriage and future security. Joanne becomes a reluctant volunteer out to protect a park against development while hesitant to lower her guard for love. Casey struggles to find a job while trying to be her daughter's friend instead of enemy, and wonders how she can get her son's Little League coach to play fair.

About the Author

Lori Jones had a sixteen-year modeling career that began after signing on with the Wilhelmina Agency in Los Angeles.

Bookings included runway, print for magazines, catalogs, TV commercials, and an album cover for Kool and the Gang's Ladies Night.

Lori flew to Milan, Italy in 1982 and ended up living and modeling in Milan, Germany and Spain over the next five years. Always interested in writing, she kept journals of her work experiences, extensive travels throughout Europe and Africa, and the people she met along the way.

Growing Up Beautiful is a fictional account of how three young models grow up in that foreign world of fashion in the 1980’s. Lori wrote her second novel, The Beauty of a Second Chance, after being asked repeatedly, "What happened to Star, Joanne and Casey?" The answer takes place sixteen years later, giving all three women a second chance at friendship while seeking love, financial success and happiness.

The Beauty of a Second Chance deals with unfairness in youth sports, lost love, and the 'dreaded' mother-in-law. My man goal when I write is to entertain, however, if readers walk in the shoes of my characters and finish the story contemplating a different perspective; that is a bonus.
