APRIL 2017 - AudioFile
Here we have a wistful audiobook about a musician who had his chance at the top, gave it up, and is now living a good life in an English town. And then the woman who offered him the chance at stardom comes back into his life. What fun. Narrator David Barker has a deep, English-accented voice that’s, well, full of wist. He paces the audiobook superbly and dabbles in some character voices that move the story along. Barker is eminently understandable, and he pronounces every word clearly. But it’s the wistfulness that slightly gets in the way. Just when Barker becomes more enthusiastic, he slides back into a slower pace. A little more consistent energy would make this audiobook even better than it is. R.I.G. © AudioFile 2017, Portland, Maine

Praise for The Best of Adam Sharp:
One of Glamour's "Most Anticipated Books of 2017"
"Readers are already clamoring." —Library Journal
Praise for The Rosie Effect
“One of the best novels I’ve read in ages…Sweet, entertaining, and thought-provoking.” —Bill Gates
“There’s a moral to this quirky story: The best things in life can’t be planned on a spreadsheet.” –Good Housekeeping
"The Rosie Effect is a celebration of the best attributes to be found in a friend, a husband, or a father, regardless of the way they are expressed." —Booklist (starred review)
Praise for The Rosie Project
“This rom-com is bursting with warmth, emotional depth, and intentional humor.” —Entertainment Weekly
“The hype is justified. Australian Graeme Simsion has written a genuinely funny novel... This is classic rom-com.” —The Washington Post
“Simsion’s attention to detail brings to life Don’s wonderful, weird world. Instead of using Don’s Asperger’s syndrome as a fault, or a lead-in to a tragic turn of events, Simsion creates a heartwarming story of an extraordinary man learning to live in an ordinary world, and to love. As Don would say, this book is ‘great fun.’” —USA Today
“An utterly winning screwball comedy. . . This charming, warmhearted escapade, which celebrates the havoc—and pleasure—emotions can unleash, offers amusement aplenty. Sharp dialogue, terrific pacing, physical hijinks, slapstick, a couple to root for, and more twists than a pack of Twizzlers.” —NPR.org
Daily Review
Like a Woody Allen flick. . . .The Best of Adam Sharp is a book about regret, about not taking the chances that life deals you and how those failures end up wearing away at you. It’s a hugely romantic tale.
AU Review
Sliding Doors meets High Fidelity. . . . Simsion paints a detailed and entertaining portrait of a flawed and wistful man who wants a romance to be more than a silly love song.
Saturday Paper
Simsion hits his marks by tapping into the daydream of a do-over. A gifted comic writer.
Redbook Magazine
An extraordinary literary treat that reminds readers the best things in life have nothing to do with plans.
Age
While Simsion’s touch is delicate, this is a dark comedy of manners, an adult entertainment that extends the range of his first, more light-hearted book.
Heat
With very real characters, an engaging plot and plenty of wit, this is a joy.
Daily Mail
A great read-romantic, wry and well-written in that bookish David Nicholls-ish way. And totally rock ’n’ roll: Bob Dylan and Patti Smith fans will love all the references.
Closer
A very enjoyable read. Highly recommended.
