The Biotechnology of Cannabis sativa
This edition of "The Biotechnology of Cannabis sativa" is markedly different than the first edition, which I wrote during my early years of graduate school studying plant biotechnology. That edition was also prompted by furious passion and was quickly written. The result was an inspirational novella that was lacking in technical detail. In this edition, the passion has been retained while some sections become quite technical, allowing the readers to immerse themselves in a deeper level of understanding. Molecular genetics, manipulation of cannabinoid production, tissue culture, transgenic systems, molecular details of gene transfer, cannabis genomics, and bioinformatics are only a few of the emerging sciences that have been included in this edition. Although much of the presentation is in a form that should be pleasantly digestible to almost any reader, there are several sections where technical details were necessarily included.

About the Author

Creatures of the living world - bugs, animals, fungi - are fascinating. However, plants are the most resilient, mysterious, and life-giving of all organisms. Plants are so captivating, that I have pursued every aspect of their biology. After my initial college years of basic botany, chemistry, and molecular biology, I did some pretty cool plant biotechnology research.

After graduate school I taught college courses then moved to Central America. The jungle-living experience was nothing less than amazing; I found unique cultures, different languages, and hundreds of medicinal plants. Some of which I was able to experiment with.

I now live in the Pacific Northwest. All plants are amazing, but especially those that provide medicine. The multitude of plants and the chemical compounds they make is my life's passion. Books have allowed me to share my experiences with minds that are open, curious, and inquisitive. If that is you, read away and if you have questions, comments, or suggestions, just let me know.
