Chief Petty Officer Rigney (Rig) Page regains his sea legs in this Cold War thriller.

ONI assigns Rig to the Fast Frigate USS Randal.
Homeport: Maddalena Archipelago, Sardinia.
Rig's mission: Investigate sabotage activities onboard the USS Randal by a sailor whose wife has been kidnapped by the Red Brigade.

Rig's mission becomes complicated when he must cope with a delusional division officer and an untrusting department head.

ONI teams Rig with counterespionage operative Senior Chief Barbara Gaile. Their mission: Assassinate an international arms dealer who supplies weapons to communist terrorists.

Events lead to a conflict at sea between the USS Randal and a foreign submarine. Rig leads a small team of sailors on a mission of destruction.
