The Caitiff

One of the last Homo Sapiens, Cedric Healy is trapped. Trapped by his good job, with its high prospects and potential, trapped by the ghosts of a personal morality in a world evolved beyond the need for one, and trapped by his self-destructive refusal to worship the Money-God.

He believes that freedom lies within himself, in the separation of the body and the mind, in his own eccentric madness, the distance between what he classifies as the self and the other. Everything he believes to be human appears to be fading away around him, amongst the tall buildings of the Manchester skyline, the broken flagstones and the advertising posters snapping in the wind, can he ever truly obtain his freedom?

About the Author

I've lived in the North-West of England my entire life, and in 23 years I haven't managed to achieve a single thing. I write these things because it lets me feel like I've achieved something, and it lets me tell myself that I am something beyond that which I am in my daily life.
