This is a novelette in other words, a long short story. It the beginning of a series of novels set in Moonrise Farm. a horse breeding and rescue operation. Alexandra—Xan, for short—is a fiery young woman at the heart of an usual family. The focus of the farm is the rescue and reclaiming of forgotten kids and horses, and so takes us on a journey into both sorrow and triumph. In this particular story, Moonrise Farm is in full holiday mode, just making ready for a flood of family and tending to their barn's prize Morgan horses when a freak storm hits. As the storm suddenly threatens to take an unexpected and terrible toll, bold actions and great love are required to prove the promise of the season.
