About the Author

David G. Satin, M.D., was educated at Princeton University and the Harvard Medical School. He had fellowship training in both Community Mental Health and Research Methods for Psychiatrists. He is currently Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Harvard Medical School and a lecturer at the Boston University School of Medicine Division of Psychiatry, and is on the staff at both the Newton-Wellesley and McLean Hospitals.

Description: This book attempts to describe the interdisciplinary nature of caring for older persons and the nature of interdisciplinary teams.
Purpose: The three-fold purpose of this book is to provide substantial information on aging and health care of older persons for each member of an interdisciplinary team, to present an integrated model of health care for older persons by an interdisciplinary team, and to demonstrate how interdisciplinary teams ought to work.
Audience: The audience includes members of interdisciplinary teams.
Features: This book features case studies with comments from all team members and individual chapters from various disciplines about health care of older persons.
Assessment: The information provided is too superficial and presented in too simplistic a manner to achieve the integration called for in the book's objectives. There is not a clear carryover from the case presentations to the didactic material and examples of interdisciplinary function.
