Overview

THE GLITZY WORLD of diamonds. A grand robbery from under the Kremlin in Moscow takes place. From the heavily guarded treasure chamber someone carries off one ton of the finest Siberian diamonds. The Russian Minister for Mining and Precious Metals is shot execution-style by Moscow. In Carlsbad, California, the chief of the security has been killed by an assassin. Tel Aviv, Israel, a prominent diamonds polisher is torn to pieces by a bomb. Athens, Greece, a shipping tycoon falls from a steep coastal cliff into the Mediterranean Sea to his death. The Russian Mafia is after the stones. De Beers in London does not want the fortune on the world market. And the new Russian government. But where are the diamonds? FBI agent Steve Jenkins and Athena Sakure, the daughter of a Yugoslavian diplomat, recover the missing gems in the Rila Monastery, Bulgaria. Their assignment is to tranfer, in utmost secrecy and with the help of two retired secret service agents, the swag to the shores of the Adrian Sea. It is a very difficult to hand over the diamonds to the rightful owner, the Russian government. All hell would brake loose if anyone knew where and under what circumstances one ton of diamonds would be transported. During this journey an unknown group suddenly seizes the diamonds by force. What was once began as an uneventful assignment turns into a brutal life and death struggle across the Balkan Mountains and straight into the Kosovo War. It is a dramatic vicious pursuit without a protagonist where those diamonds begin to lose their worth compared to the price that might have to be paid. Moscow, London, Sofia, the Kosovo and Zimbabwe, Southern Africa, are the scenes of action with its surprising twist. The thriller is a chain of events of a massive and cynical manipulation which takes place right after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
