About the Author

Luis Senarens was born in Brooklyn, New York, son of a Cuban father and an American mother. A precocious writer, he got his first writing job at the tender age of twelve. He kept his young age a secret, handling all the arrangements by mail. His talent shone through, and soon he was a regular correspondent to a number of New York periodicals, writing articles, comedy sketches, and detective stories.
He was fifteen when he was assigned to work on what would become his signature character: young super inventor Frank Reade Junior. Traveling land, air, sea, and space, Luis’ young steam-powered genius roamed the globe in search of adventure, taking millions of kids along in his weekly exploits. In its day, it was the most popular weekly science fiction adventure in America, going through numerous reprints and eventually running to 187 stories.
In time, Luis Senarens rose from junior correspondent to chief editor, eventually overseeing a vast empire of weekly publications. His marathonic ability to write in unending torrents was legendary, and it’s estimated he wrote over 50 million words in his lifetime, creating thousands of short stories, novels, plays and even screenplays for that novel new invention, the motion pictures.
