In the 1960s, a downtrodden and raggedly dressed preschooler, Monica Jackson, wished for love and care. If the family of a preschooler is wealthy, shouldn't the preschooler be wealthy too?
For Monica, the 'seventies got a little "groovy." In the 'eighties, she acquired a bachelor's degree, a well-paying job, and a fiancé. She was good-looking, as well, but did she know it? Everybody is beautiful in some way. What would cause someone like her to see herself as being ugly? At what level was her sense of worth when she embarrassed her fiancé in a high-class restaurant? All he did was propose to her with a diamond ring. She had everything that her heart could desire except for the full acceptance of her entire family. At least her parents accept her ... now.
Why was Monica unaccepted by her parents, brother, and sisters? Was she the problem? Monica's experiences while growing up at home went far beyond any sibling teasing. It was a journey of abuse, sadness, and frustration from which she almost didn't return. Could the love of God, the counseling of psychologist Clarence Spendler, and the help of her soul sister and friend, Genise Perry, (one of a few females who was not trying to use Monica to get next to her handsome older brother), stop her from going down a mental slope to miss a life she deserved? Did she change her way of thinking, which was required for things to turn for the better, or did she become a casualty in the war for her mental soundness?
