About the Author

Julie G. Helm grew up in Idaho, spent several years abroad, and has spent the last 23 years living in Utah. She has spent many years writing stories for children, young adults, and adults. At present she has three books on the market, The Crooked Swan, The Lost Monster Tales, and Merlin for Sherman. She has belonged to one of the top fantasy and science fiction writer’s groups in the area, acted as the liaison for the BYU Writer’s Conferences, and worked as an acquisitions editor for Gibbs Smith Publishers. She won first place in an area writer’s conference judged by the late Roger Zelazney. Along with raising her six children with a devoted husband, Greg, she continues to write stories to delight and thrill all those who read her books.

It was a seamless storyline that had you captured from page one to the final page. I liked the character development that was created by the author. The author didn't hold back on the readers in regards to the emotional aspect, tissues are definitely required to read this heartfelt book. She gives hope where in most of our life we may find there is none. If you believe in magic then anything is possible.

"The Crooked Swan" not only transported me to a "beautiful place", but I loved the way the author was able to string my feelings along - each time adding different emotions - climaxing with my "eyes filling with tender water". Brilliant story of love, determination, and reliving the magic that happens when dreams come true. We all feel a little "crooked" at times; we need someone to help set our minds, our dreams, in the right direction.

am the mother of five children, ranging in ages from four years old up to sixteen. After reading the book, "The Crooked Swan", I loved the magical story so much, that I read it a second time to my children one night as we all snuggled on my bed, since their dad was out of town. Yes, we read it from covereth to covereth! It truly captured my heart and that of my children, and kept us all completely spellbound.
