If it's possible for a family to make the best of their grandfather's murder during an annual gathering at his English country home, this crew of characters shows the listener how it's done. David Thorn is absolute perfection in his portrayal of an assortment of wacky relatives. Grandfather himself is cantankerously threatening to change his will; his second wife, Bella, is unable to compete with his previous wife; Edward suffers from blackouts; Peta and Clare, the lovely granddaughters, are nervous and self-centered; and grandson Philip and his wife, Ellen, can’t escape their marital difficulties. Thorn uproariously entertains listeners as these family members quite respectfully and without menace accuse one another of the murder. Equally fun is Thorn's portrayal of the local detective and his interactions with this peculiar family. B.J.P. Winner of AudioFile Earphones Award © AudioFile 2012, Portland, Maine
