About the Author

Linda M James is a nomadic published author and award-winning screenwriter who has lived in many counties in the UK and lived in Malta, Germany and Vienna for over a decade. Each move has made her poorer financially , but richer in material for her novels and in her life.
She grew up within singing sight of the sea in West Cross, Swansea and the mercurial sea has fascinated her all her life. She became a spinner of tales after listening to her eccentric Welsh grandmother performing a theatrical ritual of reading tea leaves for different neighbours each week.
In each session of tea-leaf reading, her grandmother would invent stories about what was going to happen to the neighbours’ lives; if she liked you, the outcome was good but dire things happened to those she didn't! Incredibly, most of the stories became fact later on which amazed everyone. Was this Welsh black magic or Gaslighting?

A superb read.
I really enjoyed this book. It is very well written, the settings are evocative, the plot is suspenseful and it has an unexpected twist at the end. I couldn't put it down.

This is a fascinating psychological thriller about Anna who is a trainee psychologist. Stefan, a client, stalks her as he is convinced that he's her brother. As the story develops, the reader keeps asking who among the characters is telling the truth? Indeed, as the book ends, you wonder - what was the truth here?

The characters are intriguing - so it the plot- and the author does a fine job keeping the reader intrigued and on the edge of their seat with breathtaking developments as the story unfolds. Would make a great movie.

The author's grip on her characters and her clever plotting kept me absorbed from the very first page...
Once Stefan makes his presence felt, his character becomes more complex and more absorbing and as he develops his hold on Anna it becomes evident that Anna is somehow under his spell...The twist at the end is convincing and shattering. This book is highly recommended.

Page turning stuff kept me reading till early hours of the morning. Basically a young trainee psychologist/therapist gets a new, disturbing patient who eventually reveals that he is someone important from her past (or is he?)

As Anna (the protagonist) and the other characters try to sort out the truth from fiction, we learn important facts about them all; everyone is hiding something. Excellent characterizations and ingenious twists will keep you gripped to the end.

Would make a great film.
