About the Author

The German philosopher Ludwig Feuerbach (1804-1872) had much impact on the Victorian view of religion. As a member of the “Young Hegelians” he critiqued Hegel’s philosophy of idealism; he later joined the German Social Democratic Party, which was founded by Marx.
