Overview

The Essential Patriotic Collection is a two-disc set that will tug the heartstrings of the patriot in the family. The 22 tracks include "When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again" by Sandy Posey, "Ballad of the Green Berets" by Barry Sadler, "Pledge of Allegiance" by Red Sovine, and of course "God Bless the U.S.A." by Lee Greenwood. Numerous tracks omit the artists who made some of these songs famous ("Tie a Yellow Ribbon ['Round the Old Oak Tree]" is sung by Johnny Carver instead of Tony Orlando, for instance); nevertheless, the lyrics and their intent are the focus of this set, and for that reason The Essential Patriotic Collection is recommended. ~ Al Campbell
