Emanuel Swedenborg (born Emanuel Swedberg) was a Swedish scientist, inventor and philosopher, mostly remembered for his work Heaven and Hell. At age 53, during his 'spiritual awakening', Swedenborg, having experienced various ambiguous dreams, believed to become God's messenger and wrote his first theological work The Heavenly Doctrine.
