Narrators Varia Williams and Alexis Rodney are phenomenal in this enemies-to-lovers romance told from a dual point of view. Williams portrays Bianca Bridge, a model and writer who is moving past a scandalous affair with a powerful politician. Rodney portrays Obadiah Cortland, "The God of Good Looks." He is an arrogant cosmetics entrepreneur and fashion magazine editor who hires Bianca for his magazine team. Mc Ivor's novel, amplified by the narrators' beautiful Trinidadian accents and tremendous talent, goes beyond the postcard images of the island to depict political corruption, LBGTQ+ issues, and socioeconomic disparities. The narrators breathe life into the distinctly diverse cast of supporting characters, giving each their own vitality. The full-bodied story coupled with Williams's and Rodney's performances is one to celebrate. P.P.C. Winner of AudioFile Earphones Award © AudioFile 2023, Portland, Maine
