About the Author

Lucy Maud Montgomery was a Canadian author, born on 30 November 1874 in Clifton, Prince Edward Island. Her parents were Hugh John Montgomery and Clara Woolner Macneil Montgomery. She was brought up by her grandparents because her mother died early, due to tuberculosis. She led a lonely life in childhood, created imaginary friends and developed her creativity. She got education in Prince of Wales College and Dalhousie University. After completing the college she worked as a journalist and then became a teacher. Since, early childhood she was a creative writer, she wrote her first poem at the nine years of age. But her first poem was published at the age of 15 years. In 1908, she wrote most popular work Anne of Green Gables. After that she continued her writing and wrote more than 20 novels, 500 short stories and more than 500 poems and lot of essays on different topics. Prince Edward Island was most favourite place, she set her most of the stories around it. She was died in 1942. Her memorable works - Anne of Green Gables, Anne of Avonlea, Anne's House of Dreams, The Blue Castle, Emily of New Moon, The Golden Road, Rainbow Valley, Ultimate Collection, The Greatest Christmas Stories of All Times etc.
