INTRODUCTION

Disneyland: just the sound of the name on your lips conjures visions of Mickey Mouse and Snow White, the Sleeping Beauty castle towering against the clear blue sky of Southern California, the thrilling experiences of Space Mountain, or the magical fireworks that light up the night sky.

My love affair with all things created by visionary Walt Disney began as a small child with our family's yearly pilgrimages to the Magic Kingdom. Memories of seeing the snow-capped peak of the Matterhorn as we exited the freeway and pulling into the vast parking lot with sections named after all of the beloved characters I had watched on the movie screen.

Seeing the front gates would foster giddy anticipation of the treasures just beyond the tunnels. The sights, smells and music of Main Street would be a blur as we rushed past the shops, knowing the delights waiting within the various lands.

As children we would rush up the draw bridge of Sleeping Beauty Castle hearing the strains of "Once Upon a Dream" growing louder as we emerged from the gates into the charming world of Fantasyland. My parents would purchase books of ride coupons, the A coupons going unused as we tried in vain to decide which attraction to use the precious E Coupons on. We would stand impatiently in line after line just to be transported to the world of Alice in Wonderland, Pinocchio and Pirates of the Caribbean.

As an adult, I found that the world of Disneyland slowed down and I could stroll through the various wonders of the theme park seeing for the first time with amazement the details that Walt Disney had so lovingly provided for the guests to experience. I could now take my time and stop rushing, experiencing each new delight while watching the thousands of guests breeze past the same things I had missed for so many years.

I invite you to use the pages within this book to see the Disneyland theme parks through new eyes. Whether this is your first visit or five hundredth, I challenge you to finish this book and not find something new to enjoy within the borders of the Disneyland resort.

This book is dedicated to the vision of Walt Disney.

Disneyland resort, built by creative thinker Walt Disney, from ground breaking to completion took one year. Disney took on the singular task of overseeing the entire construction of the theme park, ensuring no detail would be left out. He painstakingly spent the year creating an experience for the guests that would come through the gate for decades to come.

While Disneyland will never be complete, Walt Disney's spirit and dream remain a constant part of the charm Disneyland holds in the hearts of all who enter her gates.

How to use this book:

Your Disney trivia is broken down into three categories

• One star – Easier questions – Good for families with small children or first time guests

• Two star– Challenging questions – For returning guests and those with more time

• Three star– Expert questions – For those looking for a real challenge or Disney park experts

All of the questions found in this book have been verified by several Disney enthusiasts but I am aware that the décor of Disneyland changes regularly. If there are changes, you can visit www.MouseHangover.com for current updates. If you have come across a change prior to me, please email me so the changes can be noted.

I hope you find your way through the Disneyland resort with new eyes and enjoy your hunt for the loving details Walt Disney wanted his guests to experience.
