About the Author

MARK T. HOOKER is a Visiting Scholar at Indiana University. He is author of The Military Uses of Literature (Praeger 1996) and Customs and Etiquette in Holland (1997). He served as a linguist and foreign area specialist as a uniformed member of the U.S. Armed Forces and also as a Department of Defense civilian.

He sketches in events and conditions from the Ice Age, but really starts his treatment with the Reformation and the founding of the Republic and carries it past the end of the Cold War. He includes a chronology, biographical profiles, a bibliographic essay, and a bibliography of translations of 20th-century Dutch authors, but no maps or other illustration. Annotation c.
