Overview

Alfred Polly is a quiet, timid and direction-less young man. At his fathers funeral he meets a distant cousin. Although not in love they marry and buy a shop. After 15 years of an abusive and spiteful wife he tries to do away with himself and fails. This however inspires him to do something adventurous with his life.
