About the Author

Jochen Brennecke (also known as Hans Jochen Brennecke) was a German writer, editor and Marine historian. Believed to have been a retired yard sailor, he subsequently became a war correspondent of the Navy during WWII.
R. H. Stevens was a Major in the British Army and from 1939 Head of the Passport Control Office (PCO) of the British Secret Intelligence Service in the Netherlands. His name is closely associated with the Venlo Incident in 1939.
