Overview

The Kingdom of God is Within You by Leo Tolstoy is one of the most provocative anti-establishment and anti-authoritarian pieces of literature ever written. Tolstoy's philosophy of nonviolent resistance had a profound impact on such pivotal twentieth-century figures as Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, and Martin Luther King, Jr.

Banned in Russia for years, published in hundreds of editions, and translated into virtually every modern language, it has not been out of print since 1894.

No less a figure than Mahatma Gandhi himself has acknowledged that it provided the inspiration to denounce violent revolution, and find his inner divinity for the strength to effect social change.

In Gandhi's words: "Tolstoy's The Kingdom of God is Within You overwhelmed me. Before the independent thinking, profound morality and truthfulness of this book, all the books given me seemed to pale into insignificance."

The appearance of this sumptuously produced digital edition of The Kingdom of God is Within You will delight the countless admirers of Leo Tolstoy.
