The two best lawmen in Texas put aside a lifetime of differences to help find an innocent man accused of bank robbery. James Jenner delivers this classic Western in classic form--understated, dry as dust, and riveting. Jenner growls the retired sherrifs’ dialogue with each other, then assumes the voice of an officious bank manager. His female characters speak with voices deferential or slatternly, as appropriate. Gunshots ricochet off canyon walls as convincingly in Jenner’s telling as in a movie. The plot is thoroughly predictable, as any good Western should be. And the performance proves enjoyable in every way. R.P.L. © AudioFile 2004, Portland, Maine
