About the Author

I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. I am a twin of 14 kids .Education was big in our family .My dad could only go to 6th grade in the South. My dad said “ a privilege denied must be valuable. So after graduating, I went to college in Thibodaux, Louisiana. I majored in Education. During my student teaching, I hit a brick wall of prejudice. The supervising teacher felt blacks were inferior. Discouraged, I dropped out of college, wondering, “Why did people feel this way?” As I worked in Portland, a principal always encouraged me daily saying “Go back to college, we need good teachers.”

Soon I went back to college. I also accepted Christ as Savior and Lord. Then I understood. The enemy worked to discourage me. But God is gracious. I am retired after 30 years of teaching in Portland and still going strong sharing His Love.
