Emelia Govender, a mother of two living in Cape Town. Her love for books and poetry was sparked by her “Didi Aya”(maternal grandmother) who read voraciously.

Emelia’s debut picture book The Magical Adventures of Cyan: I Believe In Book Fairies, Do You? is a loving tale of determination, kindness and realistic challenges. All children deserve to see themselves in the books they read. She hopes this first book in the series will serve as a conversation starter for families and inspire some soon to be minibookfairies.
Emelia is passionate about diversity in books.
Emelia enjoys thrifting, doing fun castings, writing poetry, reading, being a tourist in her city, spending time with her family and her work as a Book Fairy.
