About the Author

Ranbir Vohra, Charles A. Dana Professor (Emeritus) of Political Science, Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut, began his career as a program officer for All India Radio, posted at Lahore, New Delhi, Mumbai, Jalandhar, and Srinagar. After study at Beijing University, he assumed charge of the radio's Chinese Broadcasting Unit. He then went on to study at Harvard University, where he was on the faculty for a few years after gaining his doctorate in East Asian Studies.
