L. Frank Baum (May 15, 1856 – May 6, 1919) was an American author of children's books, best known for writing the Oz series, beginning with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and its sequel, The Marvelous Land of Oz. He wrote fourteen Oz books in all, and a host of other plays and novels. His works predicted such century-later commonplaces as television, laptop computers, wireless telephones, and women in high risk, action-heavy occupations.

This is exactly what I've been wanting. I adored the Oz books as a kid, and while they're also available as naked text, Neill's artwork is a major factor in my love for them. It's great to be able to read this the way it should look. The color plates are even in color on the iPad and computer.

Denslow's art from "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" is fine, but it's always been Neill's art from the remaining dozen or three Oz books that really says "Oz" to me.

The Marvelous Land of Oz was my favorite Oz book growing up. I loved the story of how Jack Pumpkinhead and the Saw Horse came to life... I remember how much the illustrations added to my enjoyment of the book. I'm so glad that this book has been released in an illustrated version. I was concerned at first that the pictures might not show up well. The illustrations are so beautiful, though. The publisher has truly done an outstanding job of optimizing their appearance for ebooks.

I love collecting children's books but the marvelous illustrations from my childhood collection never transferred well to my Kindle. This edition has overcome all the technical difficulties. A classic book with beautiful illustrations! If you don't believe me, try the sample first. I just love this edition and hope the editors will do more and more children's classics.
