The Mayan Manifesto
Will a 1000-year-old Mayan legend, uncovered in Yucatan, Mexico by Himmler’s SS in the 1930’s, save the world before the Mayan calendar ends on December 21, 2012? The Mayan Manifesto, a fast-paced, suspense novel set in San Francisco and Chichen Itza, Mexico in the fall of 2012 follows the quest of Alexandra King and her fellow college students as they seek the answer to the question raised by conspiracy theorists and Mayan scholars alike—does the end of the Mayan calendar on December 21, 2012 portend the end of the world, and is there anything to be done to save it?
Alex King, a golden girl, college runner at the University of San Francisco, who wears designer clothes and drives a BMW roadster, grew up in east coast boarding schools and the luxury of her grandmother’s San Francisco Nob Hill Victorian mansion. What could she possibly have in common with Dita Puhlya, who was raised by an alcoholic, abusive single mother in squalor and poverty in the barrios of Oakland? Dita, who attends a community college in Oakland, rides the BART and who wears second-hand clothes, can only dream about a life like Alex’s. But then fate brings the two girls together when they both enter an essay contest to study Mayan culture—in Yucatan, Mexico—and the apocalyptic prophesies associated with the end of the Mayan calendar.
Will Alex and Dita discover the secret they share—in time to escape the dark future that awaits them? And will the Manifesto prevent the world's end?
