The Oxford Encyclopedia of Latinos and Latinas in Contemporary Politics, Law, and Social Movements (OEPoL) provides a comprehensive source of information on the diverse historical and contemporary experiences of Latinos and Latinas in the United States. About the Author

Suzanne Oboler is Professor of Latin American and Latina/o Studies at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Between 2002 -2012 she served as founding editor of the academic journal, Latino Studies. She is the author of Ethnic Labels, Latino Lives: Identity and the Politics of (Re)Presentation in the United States (1995) and various articles and book chapters. She has edited Latinos and Citizenship: The Dilemma of Belonging (2006) and Behind Bars: Latino/as and Prison in the United States (2009). In 2005, she co-edited, with Anani Dzidzienyo, the anthology, Neither Enemies nor Friends: Latinos, Blacks, Afro-Latinos and was co-editor in chief of The Oxford Encyclopedia of Latinos and Latinas in the United States, 4 vols.

Deena J. González is Professor at the Department of Chicana/o Studies and Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs at Loyola Marymount University. The first Chicana to receive a Ph.D. from Berkeley's history department, she is the author of Refusing the Favor: The Spanish-Mexican Women of Santa Fe, 1820-1880 (OUP 1999).
