Overview

This book consists of twenty poems arranged into the four themes of Family, Fun, Nature and Life Lessons.

I write poems to be read aloud. Middle school age children should be able to read all the poems.

For younger children, have an adult or older child read the poems.
Poetry is meant to be fun and to teach lessons about life. I’ve tried my best to accomplish both.

About the Author

Since I was young, I harbored an inner passion to write poetry. I tried a few times but never published or shared my poetry with others because I was very private. Besides, boys should only be into sports and girls. Of course, I did all those things. Average in sports and probably below average in girls. Shyness was not attractive in teen age girls.

I did get married and we had three children, a boy then two daughters. Launching into the then new field of computers, I became a computer programmer and eventually started a few small but successful consulting firms. My passion was to be the best I could be and help my clients.

When my 23 year old daughter died in December 2001 while on a cruise ship in the Caribbean, my life changed forever. First there was the World Trade destruction in September; then my daughter died in December; then the downturn in the computer industry caused me to lose my job the following Spring. The next couple of years had me retreating from the world while also dealing with depression.

But 2004 also rekindled my passion so long tamped down by the ashes of everyday existence.

Poetry must erupt from intense feelings – feelings like pain and sorry and love and joy. Since 2004, I have written hundreds of poems.

Over the years, many people have requested me to write poems for family, friends and special occasions. I have written birthday and holiday greeting for cards mailed out. Yes, some people do actually mail cards rather than just ‘texting’. Each work is very customized to the desired thoughts and emotions.
