The Playboy Bachelor
She's no Sleeping Beauty. And he's definitely no prince . . .

Margot McCleery could have lived her whole life without seeing Bentley Wellington again-her ex-best friend and the poster boy for Hot, Rich Man-Whores everywhere. But Margot's whiskey-augmented grandmother "buys" Bentley at a charity bachelor auction, and now suddenly he's at her door. Impossibly charming. Impossibly sexy. And still a complete and utter jackass.

Bentley's just been coerced by his grandfather to spend the next thirty days charming and romancing the reclusive red-haired beauty who hates him. The woman he abandoned when she needed him the most. Bentley knows just as much about romance as he knows about love-nothing. But the more time he spends with Margot, the more he realizes that "just friends" will never be enough. Now all he has to do is convince her to trust him with her heart . . .

Editorial Reviews

NOVEMBER 2017 - AudioFile

Dyken’s audiobook is read by two narrators with very compatible styles. The work is the second in a trilogy but stands easily on its own. Bentley Wellington, the playboy of the title, is "bought" at a charity auction by the wily grandmother of Margot, Bentley's BFF from high school. Bentley must spend a weekend, which turns into a month, lavishing attention on Margot to fulfill his charity obligation, even though they haven't seen each other for 10 years, and they didn't part on good terms. The plot is predictable but affecting, and the likable narrators bring a freshness to the tale. L.C.L. © AudioFile 2017, Portland, Maine

Publishers Weekly

It’s hard to make a hero out of a shallow guy who let his best friend down when she needed him the most, but Van Dyken manages it in her satisfying second Bachelors of Arizona contemporary (after The Bachelor Auction). Margot McCleery is still scarred by the accident that killed her parents. Even years later, she can’t understand why her best friend, Bentley Wellington, never showed up to support her during that difficult time. Margot, who now has a thriving career as a romance author, has become a recluse. Her grandmother “buys” Bentley at the bachelor auction, hoping he’ll pull Margot out of her shell. Bentley isn’t exactly thrilled by the prospect, knowing Margot will never forgive him for abandoning her. The two angrily dance around each other until the emotional walls come down and they admit their true feelings. Readers will cheer for Margot, who has lost so much, and even Bentley, who has more depth than is initially apparent. Van Dyken succeeds with this well-characterized, tightly plotted tale. Agent: Erica Spellman-Silverman, Trident Media Group. (Aug.)

From the Publisher

"Laugh-out-loud fun! Rachel Van Dyken is on my auto-buy list."—Jill Shalvis, New York Times bestselling author of the Lucky Harbor series

"If you want a story with make you laugh til you cry parts, heart melting sweet parts and melt your panty parts, this is the book for you! The family is in rare form, and the wedding week festivities are a hoot. What I really love, though is how Rachel's books are sexy, funny and romantic, but they also have serious issues for the main characters to work through. You might be rolling on the floor laughing one minute and tearing up the next. That's when books are the best! All I can say is, "Bring on book three, Rachel!"—The Book Hookers

"If you need a funny, light read ..., I promise you this is a superb choice!"—MustReadBooksOrDie.com
