About the Author

Debbie Burke is a Brooklyn-born writer who lives in the Poconos. She played violin throughout her early school years (reaching first chair of the second violin section) and dabbled in the clarinet and tuba. While in her 20s, she purchased her first alto saxophone and took lessons at The New School at New York University, but then set music aside to build a career in journalism. Debbie came back to the sax in 2007 when she got hooked on jazz and wrote a column about her experiences called "Midlife Sax." She co-founded ArtSmash of the Poconos, created the Pocono Jazz and Poetry website and plays in three community bands. Debbie has written hundreds of columns and articles, and was the editor of an award-winning business journal. This is her first book.
