About the Author

Jackie Nelson is an upcoming novelist, who lives in St.Louis, MO, with her husband and two children. Jackie began exploring her passion in writing soon after her daughter was diagnosed with Autism. She wanted a way to share the positive experiences and loving nature of her daughter, while building Autism acceptance. She was published in Autism Parenting Magazine with her first personal narrative, "The Remarkable Day Daphne Met The Doctor". Recently, she has completed her first full manuscript, a middle-school fiction, "The Power Within.

I was drawn to the unique concept of this book as I had never seen any fiction featuring a kid with Autism, let alone a girl. Jackie has a unique and engaging story here and hopefully it will inspire other authors to pursue their own works featuring kids on the spectrum. The book itself is engaging, filled with mystery and action.

I borrowed this book from my aunt and loved it! I give this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. I gave this book 4.5 stars because it was very descriptive about the zombies, Daphne's strengths, weaknesses, and her powers, the dance studio, and the creepy house next door. It was also very thrilling. I also liked how you ended the first book on a cliffhanger and where there was still more to come. I hope the 2nd book is just as good. This was a thrilling zombie book as told through the lens of a 12 year old girl with autism. I thought it was very neat to read about the sensastions Daphne feels throughout the wohole zombie apocalypse, and I really like that her autism proves to be the most helpful tool of all. I can't wait to read the next book!

Loved this book, seeing the world through Daphne's eyes gave me a better insight into what someone with Autism feels, and seeing how her friends and family interact with her also gave me eyes. The premise of the story is suspenseful enough to make you not want to put it down, while not being too heavy for kids.

Just when you think every perspective for bringing a story to light has been exhausted, J.E. Nelson leads us down a fresh path. There are surprises all along this journey to keep you on your toes.

This book is a great read quick read for an adult; but it is fantastic to read with kids.
