About the Author

Susan Russo is the author and illustrator of ‘Pretty Bird.’ She was inspired by the family's pet bird, Mooshoe, who would spread his wings displaying his colorful feathers when requested, “Do pretty!”
She decided to pen the story after experiencing the eager requests for sharing the narrative by her young learners while working as an assistant teacher in the New York Institute for Special Education in the Bronx.
Ms. Russo has since earned the Magna Cum Laude award while completing her Bachelors and Dual Certification in Special Education. In addition to earning her Masters in reading, Ms. Russo has over 40 years of experience working with ‘struggling’ students in order to assist them in learning how to learn to the best of their abilities.
Currently, Ms Russo resides with her immediate family in Pennsylvania.
