The Priest (Mendenhall Mysteries)

Chief of Police Kate Williams doesn't understand why Constable Trepalli calls her into his investigation of the break-in at the priest's house. The young constable is a competent investigator and doesn't usually need hand-holding, especially not for a straightforward B&E. Then Trepalli shows her what he found on the priest's bed and Kate's heart sinks. Now she will have to confront the priest—a man she doesn't know well but respects—and brave the Catholic Church's ire.

It's going to be a long day.

A short story featuring Chief Kate Williams by the author of The Shoeless Kid, The Tuxedoed Man, The Weeping Woman, The Untethered Woman and The Forsaken Man.

Marcelle Dubé weaves another addictive story featuring Kate Williams, new chief of police in tiny Mendenhall, Manitoba. Readers who like strong characters will enjoy Kate and her constables as she faces a tricky new case. Marcelle's short fiction has appeared in a number of magazines and anthologies. About the Author

Marcelle Dubé writes mystery, science fiction, fantasy, contemporary and—occasionally—romance fiction. She grew up near Montreal and after trying out a number of different provinces (not to mention Belgium) she settled in the Yukon, where people outnumber carnivores, but not by much.

Her short stories have appeared in magazines and award-winning anthologies. Her novels include the Mendenhall Mystery series (a number of her short stories are also set in the world of Mendenhall Chief of Police Kate Williams) and The A'lle Chronicles, as well as standalone fantasy and mystery titles. Her work is available in print and in electronic format.
