The Race Problem in the South
Henry Grady was a famous journalist and orator in the mid to late 1800s who helped reintegrate the Confederate states into the Union following the Civil War.

In 1889, Grady gave a famous speech in Boston titled "The Race Problem in the South." In this speech, Grady asked for national patriotism rather than sectionalism. Grady asked for a loyalty "that knows no south, no north, no east, no west, but endears with equal and patriotic love every foot or our soil, every State in our Union."

A few days after giving this speech, Grady died at the age of 39.
